yes, MPEG2 format is more ideal because we
then will make:
2 kinds of MPEG4 streamable "derivatives",
1 MPEG1,
1 animated GIF, and 1 set of thumbnails.

however, if the movie item's format on the "Edit item" page (see lower lefthand section of your item's page) is listed as MPEG4, then we should still make an
animated GIF and thumbnails.

so is there anyway to remove my previous entry and upload a MPEG-2 version?

i'd recommend just updating your current item.

find the "Edit item" link on the left of your item page.
follow it and find the "item manager" link near the top.
hit the "checkout" button and you can than rename, delete,
replace, and add files to your item!
